Coronavirus Stops Marijuana Holiday 4/20
A day we all celebrate, but very few really understand why we do that is April 20. This day is celebrated by non-smokers and smokers alike as a holiday for Cannabis or better known as Marijuana Day. There’s a lot behind the reasons why the day was chosen and why people celebrate it every year.
You will hear people referring to this day as Adolf Hitler’s Birthday and others associating the day with Police officer code for marijuana smoking in progress. One big thing we can all agree to is that all the above mysteries and many other rumors associated with this day are false.
However, there are several possible explanations for why this celebration landed in the US. Though, there’s no one explanation that would be 100% trustable. It’s clear that the day has now become an international day for gathering and consuming Cannabis.
How April 20 became known as ”weed day.”
Among the many available stories on how this day became known as the weed day, we will talk about one incredible story. This day came about as a day that five students from San Rafael High school used to meet to partake. The main reason why they chose that time is that it was an ideal time when all the classwork has ended. It was also a perfect time because extracurricular activities had ended.
This team of five high scholars became known as the ‘’waldos’’ because they would meet at the wall. They decided to use this code 4/20 to avoid being noted or arising suspicious.
What About 4/20 at the wake of coronavirus?
On this day, people have different ways of celebrating. As a common norm, people get together to celebrate a drug that is still marked as illegal in many parts of the world. One big issue about celebrating 4/20 in 2020 is that there’s little you can celebrate with your friends and family.
Remember, one of the main measures of fighting the covid-19 outbreak is to maintain social distancing. In fact, some countries have already considered lockdown as a measure of reducing the spread of the virus. What does this mean for you? Well, you will have to celebrate alone indoors or share the videos on your channels or through video calls.
Though, I have some suggestions on how you can celebrate and, at the same time, violate zero measures to combat the spread of the virus. All the measures shared here advocates celebrating alone or with your family members.
- The weedTube-YouTube will pull down all the videos advocating week smoking or showing any content pertaining to drugs. For that reason, you can always get lost on the WeedTube, which is an online forum started by people that were kicked out of YouTube for violating their terms of service.
- Get stoned -If you cannot celebrate the day by sharing the weed with friends and passersby, you can get stoned and enjoy the games inside your house. You can also enjoy Fiery’s cook-off show. This show wasn’t created with stoners in mind, but it’s amazingly a good idea.
- Educate yourself-It’s time to educate yourself about some basics in the Cannabis industry. You can actually get yourself versed in what is happening in the push for equity in the cannabis industry.
How the coronavirus has affected the weed day celebration
As everyone in the world is trying to keep safe from the biggest health crisis of the century, weed lovers will also have to back off from the weed celebrations. Corona-virus has really affected the industry negatively. Here are some other ways that the virus stopped the social gathering and public celebration of 4/20 have affected the cannabis industry and how it has impacted the 4/20 celebration.
No social gathering
One of the major ways this health pandemic has affected the celebrations is the ban of social gatherings. This means that no one will be accepted to gather and celebrate the day. There are several restrictions to sharing anything, including cigarettes and weed, while celebrating the day. This shows that people will have to privately celebrate the day or just share the videos online for others to check. In case there are no further restrictions, someone will be forced to celebrate in a small group maintaining the 1.5-meter distance from each other.
Total lockdown in some areas
The United States is at the risk of calling for total lockdown due to the increasing cases of COVID-19. In case the worst happens, it means no one will be required to leave their homes. This cuts the day from both sides. People will have to stay at their homes with little supplies and no one to celebrate with
As people celebrate the day, they most likely like sharing weed among themselves. At the wake of this pandemic, you are required to avoid shared items and also to keep the distance. This is an indication that you can celebrate but alone.
You can celebrate, but you cannot have fun
What happens when you just want to get high and sleep? I know there’s little fun there, but that is what is going to happen this year. Previously, people a smoked weed, got high, and celebrated with friends and family. This year, this is highly discouraged because you will not access clubs, pubs, and other places where you can have fun.
Marijuana celebration and social distancing
One of the main reasons for celebrating the weed day is really affected is because of social distancing directives by the Trump Government. People are expected to stay away from each other and to maintain a social distance from their friends. No one is also required to shake hands, hug, and kiss.
Note that celebrating weed day requires people to interact with each other and have fun together. Coronavirus has called for social distance in almost all jurisdictions, which is going to make the celebrations difficult.
With all the information shared above, it’s very easy to realize that 2020 weed day will be celebrated in private. People will have to observe all the rules set aside to combat the spread of coronavirus, which greatly affects the way people celebrate 4/20, share weed, smoke, get high, and have fun.
Celebrate 420 With Friends? With Social Distancing! 420 Coronavirus (COVID-19)
The favorite holiday for many users of marijuana is 420! It is the unofficial day of smoking the good stuff. More people can legally celebrate the holiday as more states legalize cannabis for recreational use. Just relax, enjoy your company, and have a slice of tasty pizza at home.
However, the celebrations will be different this year 2020 due to the pandemic of the coronavirus. More people are at home than usual. We are practicing social distancing to avoid getting the virus or spreading it at home. We are unable to gather groups of people for events. Cannabisseurs are going to use innovative methods to celebrate 420.
Where can you legally celebrate 420 in the United States?
Only the lucky people from a few states in the US can legally enjoy 420. Many dispensaries are still open and are considered essential business. I recommend calling your local dispensary before taking a trip. You may also want to arrive early to beat the 420 rush or go there on April 19th to beat the crowds.
I am expecting huge crowds of people lining the streets on 420. There is not anything else to do besides watching a rerun of Friends. People want to get out of their homes and going to the dispensary will be a breath of fresh air.
However, people need to remember to stay six feet away from each other. Lines may appear to be longer than usual and may go down a few streets. People need to stay away from each other to avoid any chance of getting COVID-19. Dispensaries are enforcing these rules in their stores and limit the number of customers inside the store at one time and a 6-foot rule.
Celebrate on Social Media!
Most people are practicing social distancing instead of going to the bar or club. This means many users are alone or with their families at home. Technology is the key to connect to fellow users around the world. The only way to currently connect to the world is by using social media.
You should expect many cannabisseurs to spread their joy and celebrations to the world on sites like Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter. If they own a website, then they can live stream their event to many followers. The internet is the best method of connecting to family, friends, fans, and followers.
Furthermore, influencers, who are cannaisseurs can play fun games with their followers. For example, they can play “Guess which line this movie is from”. Most people will enjoy a game with nostalgia to remind them of better times than the present.
It’s A Zoom Party!
A lot of people in quarantine are using zoom to meet their friends and coworkers. It is a neat app with the ability to create group chats in video streams. It is the perfect app to connect to your friends during 420. You may be physically apart, but you can still enjoy their company.
Be sure to properly set your chat’s setting to avoid any uninvited guest. Also, do not publicly share your chat’s ID, and only send the chat’s ID to invitees. I recommend requiring a password (VIP pass in your invitation) for only your guest may enter the chat.
Play Online for Game Night on 420
Another great way to celebrate 420 with friends is by playing online games. Call or text your friends to set up an XBOX, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch game night. Chat, play, and party with your friends. It is a new way to enjoy game night with your friends or followers on 420. Video games such as Fortnite and Super Smash Bros are the most fun games to play.
There is only one food for this unofficial holiday, and that is pizza! It is cheap and tasty meal for this type of party. Pizza is one of those types of foods with a variety of options. Some people like adding cannabis as a topping. Try it out on one of your pizzas!
Cannabisseurs can order pizza for delivery on an app and enjoy no-contact delivery! Do not forget to use coupon codes from online sites to get the best deals. A lot of delivery guys are going to be very busy all day on 420.
• Beef, Ham, Sausage, & Pepperoni
• Chicken, Mushroom, & Pepperoni
• Chicken, Ranch, Swiss Cheese
Furthermore, 420 is known for people protesting current laws against marijuana. This year’s protests to legalize marijuana for the entire country will be very different from normal. Groups cannot gather in public places due to the quarantine.
Influencers and regular Joes will most likely take their beliefs to the internet. They will film videos from the comfort of their homes. Friends and followers are going to share those videos to thousands or millions of people. These videos will quickly get noticed with more people at home than usual.
This method of protesting may be more beneficial than the usual protest in public. These protests will be shared through social media. People around the world will hear and see cannabisseurs’ point of view. This is a great opportunity to peacefully protest and properly present logical reasons for every nation to legalize marijuana. More people may join the movement regardless if they are users or not.
Stay at Home
Finally, everyone needs to stay at home to flatten the curve, and this means no one should be gathering in public for 420. Our health is more important than civil disobedience to express an opinion. Enjoy your Mary Jane behind closed doors at your home.
However, I expect a few groups to get arrested for gathering large groups across the nation. There will always be a few people to not obey an order. It would be very irresponsible to risk people’s health. We want to legalize Mary Jane to help people with medical conditions and gathering groups at this time would be counterproductive
Cannabisseurs will celebrate 420 in many ways this year. That does not mean that you cannot have a good time. Technology has given us the tools to still stay connected to each other. Set up social distancing parties on your social media networks or a private chat room with your best friends.
