LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Las Vegas police officer and his family member are facing charges after they were arrested for trafficking narcotics.
According to Metro police, Officer Jesus Najera allegedly set up a marijuana operation at a warehouse. Police served search warrants on the warehouse Thursday evening and took Najera and his brother-in-law, 46-year-old Eduardo Garcia, into custody.
Najera has been with Metro since 2016 and has been assigned to the Downtown Area Command, Tourist Safety Division.
Najera made his initial appearance in Las Vegas Justice Court on Friday.
Najera is facing the following charges:
- Conspiracy to Violate the Uniformed Controlled Substance Act (x3)
- Trafficking THC
- Trafficking Marijuana
Garcia is facing the following charges:
- Trafficking Marijuana,
- Trafficking Schedule 1-THC
- PCSWITS Marijuana
- Unlawful Produce/Manufacture Marijuana
- Conspiracy to Violate the Uniformed Controlled Substance Act
Both men were booked into the Clark County Detention Center.
