Police are once again reminding citizens that current legislation for marijuana possession only allows persons to have up to 30 grammes, and up to four marijuana plants per household.
The latest reminder comes after a 20-year-old man was arrested in Sangre Grande yesterday.
The suspect, who is from North Eastern Settlement, was held during a police operation supervised by Snr Sup Aguilal, and led by ASP Joseph and Sgt Katwaroo.
The officers received intelligence of illegal activities taking place in the area, and searches of several homes and known ‘drug blocks’ were conducted.
During this search, officers held the 20-year-old with 11 marijuana trees – seven more than a person is legally allowed to have. As a result, the suspect was taken into custody.
He is expected to be charged with cultivating a dangerous drug and appear before a Sangre Grande Magistrate today.
PC Treavajo is the complainant (charging officer) in this matter.
